Pilot plant for sensor-based waste wood sorting

Challenge

For waste wood to be recycled not only into particleboard but into many wood-based panels, clean fractions are needed.

Our solution

Together with machine builders and a supplier of sensor-based sorting technology, we designed, commissioned and optimised a pilot plant. It separates standard grades into solid wood, particleboard, fibreboard and plywood and cleans the material.

Result

We demonstrated the purity, yield and process steps with which the new grades are produced – the basis for further plant designs and recycling technologies.

Sourcing and quality control of waste wood

Challenge

Processors of waste wood need not only the right quantity but reliable quality and composition.

Our solution

We organise the material flows together with users and waste wood recyclers – with a clear focus on quality.

Result

Waste wood is used more effectively, processing machines are under less strain, added value increases – and recycled wood opens up new applications.

Stackable lightweight pallet – from patent to production line

Challenge

In transport, weight and resources matter. Pallets needed to become lighter and use less material.

Our solution

We developed our lightweight design into a resource-efficient transport pallet and, together with machine builders, adhesive and panel producers, built and commissioned the production line.

Result

The design and manufacturing process are filed for patent. The pallet won the German Packaging Award in 2019.

Development and patenting of a lightweight bamboo panel

Challenge

A Berlin start-up wanted to use the mechanical strengths of natural bamboo in a lightweight panel suitable for industrial production.

Our solution

We developed a new type of panel made of bamboo and bamboo plywood and designed the manufacturing process together with machine manufacturers.

Result

Both the design and the manufacturing process are filed for patent.

Lightweight panels for construction

Challenge

Construction is one of the intended applications of the lightweight bamboo panel.

Our solution

We adapted the design, coated and tested the surface – among other things as formwork in a concrete pouring test. Besides bamboo, other woods and wood-based materials were used.

Result

Lightweight panels for construction, developed and filed for patent.

Lightweight panels for packaging and transport

Challenge

The production line of the transport pallet offers potential beyond the pallet.

Our solution

Derived from the transport pallet, the line is designed to produce lightweight panels for transport.

Result

Suitable as cover and carrier panels or for transport crates.
